Are you a student interested in the Trades?
WHY: In the last decade, the U.S. has faced an extreme shortage of skilled workers. Employers continue to struggle to find trained, qualified workers who are able to meet the needs of the demands for trade labor. The ARTS organization, founded in honor of the late Andy Rice, supports young adults interested in productive, lucrative, and rewarding trade careers.
WHAT: Andy Rice Trade Scholarship (ARTS) is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization providing new opportunities for careers in the trades. The ARTS Trades Day provides an immersive, hands-on experience for 30-50 students to
Learn about the construction trades industry from experiences with different companies.
Participate in hands-on learning and informal interviews with prospective employers for summer internships, scholarships, job opportunities, apprenticeships, and training.
Create parent awareness about their students' career opportunities in the trade fields.
Earn a fair wage for their participation in a trade. (Students receive a $70 stipend at the end of the day)
WHO: 50 students in 10th-12th grade who have been recommended by a teacher, counselor, and/or principal. The High School Principal will have final decision-making rights.
WHEN/WHERE: Each year we have many different opportunities to learn about and work with the Trades.
